Valérie Thérèse Bart (she/her)
Costume Designer, Scenic Designer Yonkers, NY Valérie Thérèse Bart is a proud self-proclaimed “Franco-VietnAmericaine.” Born in France to Vietnamese refugee parents, she and her family eventually made their way to the US. Costume, and sometimes scenic, designer for theatre, opera and dabbling a bit in film/TV, she sees this as the perfect way into storytelling—through characters with what they are wearing and why, and the environment they find themselves in. It makes one delve into the psychology and the thought process behind choices. Good designers approach a script as a director and actor would by asking the questions of who/what/when/where/how and why. And it makes complete sense to her that this can combines all of her favorite things: storytelling (comics/RPG books), clothing/expression (fashion design), movement/choreography (dance), mood/theme/score (music). Valérie hopes to create work that is collaborative, open-minded and truly diverse because she comes from multi-ethnic/multi-cultural backgrounds and sees the world as such. It is now more important than ever to have an all-inclusive way of telling stories and dismantle the systems that have created gatekeeping. For so long BIPOC bodies and voices have either been used to advance white supremacy, pigeon-holed and segregated from mainstream, or cast aside and ignored. She firmly believes that the work we do is human representation at its core and if we are all storytellers, then we should do so in a respectable and empathetic manner. She earned her BA from University of California in Los Angeles, her MFA from The Yale School of Drama, is a member of IATSE United Scenic Artists Local 829, as well as Wingspace Theatrical Design. Valérie currently resides in New York with her loving husband Rick, their baby Étienne, and their awesome black cat, HoBart. valeriebart.com |

Costume Designer, Dramaturg, Producer, Projection Designer, Scenic Designer Alchemist Atelier Growing up in the heart of Anaheim, just steps away from Disneyland's alchemical paradise, I had a front-row seat to witness the magic of imagination coming to life. However, from a young age, I noticed a stark reality – despite the $4+ trillion buying power of Black, Hispanic, Indigenous, and Asian communities, multicultural representation in entertainment experiences was sorely lacking. Specializing in experiential entertainment that merges worlds using future tech and artistic tradition, I blend the enchantment of theater, the audacity of cirque spectacles, and the marvel of next-gen technology. My vision is to engage multicultural audiences by creating PHYGITAL experiences that transcend boundaries and champion Equity. With a background in live entertainment from a young age,I have honed my skills in amalgamating Producing, Storytelling,Art Direction and Technological Innovation to create a PHYGITAL PHUTURE.My achievements include being a member of Live Design International's LDInnovations League (22'-24') , one of the 5 inaugural recipients of the Pat Mackay Diversity in Design Award and Scholarship winner of an Arizoni. I excel at guiding projects from concept to execution, seamlessly integrating creative vision, budgetary constraints, and business objectives. Of his production of Crowns at Virginia Stage Company, Jeff Seneca of Alt Daily wrote, "the curtain opens on a set that will take your breath away. Josafath Reynoso has created truly magnificent scenery full of rich vibrant colors and wonderful use of space. I love when shows are able to build the music right into the set and Reynoso is able to do that with the organ and percussion right there onstage. It is an amazing set that truly shines as its own character in the show." Reynoso was also praised for his production of "The Bluest Eye" at Virginia Stage: “The real star of the show was the set. Josafath Reynoso took a simple idea of hanging laundry about the stage, from the rafters, from the box seats and the balcony and turned it to an elaborate display of color and whimsy." Mr. Reynoso was selected as a keynote speaker for Stage|Set|Scenery in Berlin and presented at the International Biennale of Architecture in Buenos Aires for his design of Noche Arabe. www.josafathreynoso.com |

I am currently the lighting director at The Faith Community of St. Sabina and a Resident Lighting Designer at The Arkansas Rep Theater. If you take a look at my work you will see that I use lots of color and saturation in my design. This is my calling card and signature style. I use color and texture to evoke emotion and feeling. To reveal and expose the internal conflicts and complexities of a character or a moment. Almost like the lighting is another character on stage with the actors. Some of the Theaters Ive worked with are Northwestern University Theater, What Congo Square Theater, Lookingglass Theater Company, Raven Theater, with Invictus Theater, Constellation Stage & Screen, Flint Rep, A Red Orchid Theater, Pulse Theater, Indiana University NW, Shattered Globe Theater, Metropolis Performing Arts Center and Musical Theater Works, Urban Theater, Definition Theater. Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew (she/her)
Lighting Designer, Projection Designer, Puppetry, Devised work and collaboration New York, NY I am an award-winning lighting and projection designer for theatre, dance, opera, musical and music performances, installations and now digital performances. I aim to create a visual environment that is organically integrated into the landscape and language of the production. Furthermore, I have extensive experience working on new, original and ensemble productions. NY Times described them as “clever” and “inventive”. Of all the genres I have designed for, I really enjoy the challenges in designing for operas. Jennifer Tipton said, “lighting is music for the eyes” which I wholeheartedly agree particularly with opera where there is true interdependency between words, music and voice, and visuals in storytelling. Recent operas: White Snake Projects’ Alice in the Pandemic (digital premiere), The Industry’s Sweet Land (premiere and immersive), Kamala Sankaram’s Thumbprint (world premiere), HK Gruber's Gloria - A Pig Tale with Alan Gilbert and Doug Fitch, Schubert’s Fierrabras with Leon Botstein, Gotham Opera’s Orientale, Jonathan Dawe’s Cosi fan tutti, Peter Winkler’s Fox Fables with Rhoda Levine, Tarik O’Regan’s The Wanton Sublime and David Cote’s The Companion (both semi-stage premiere), Aaron Siegel’s Brother Brother (world premiere), Handel’s Alcina with Pocket Opera NY, and Mozart’s Don Giovanni with Isabel Milenski. Aside from designing, I am also a puppetry artist who have originated, designed, and directed contemporary puppetry performances. Most recent is Matthew Welch’s And Here We Are which is composed as shadow puppet opera. Puppetry is a holistic art form which really informs and speaks to my approach as both an artist and a designer. jeanetteyew.com vimeo.com/showcase/jeanetteyew |
